The colorful, detailed scenes on Portmeirion's A Christmas Story dinnerware illustrate the famous poem by Clement C. Moore that begins with the line, "Twas the night before Christmas..." Collectors familiar with the dinnerware know that the poem unwinds across several different series. The four 10-1/2-inch dinner plates in this set are from Series Four. Each plate shows a different scene and verse from the poem, beginning with the sleigh and reindeer arriving on the rooftop, and the "right jolly old elf" coming down the chimney.

Designed by American artist Susan Winget, A Christmas Story is one of Portmeirion's most endearing patterns, comprising an extensive array of dinnerware, bakeware, specialty serving pieces, and accessories. Made of fine white porcelain, the plates in this set are safe for the microwave and dishwasher. --Ann Bieri

I purchased these to go with an existing set that was purchased years ago. I was concerned they may not match because the brand name was different but it was the same style of dishes. They do all match "A Christmas Story" dishes and I am very pleased with the quality.
