5 out of 5 stars Liking This One.   August 29, 2008
R. Krautbauer (Minnesota)
I am not a huge fan of this singer, but I really liked the song. Kind of a throw back to the 60's with a mix of what is in the minds of many people now. I like it.

3 out of 5 stars Friend of the Earth   August 26, 2008

"Citizen of the Planet" is a fascinating track from Alanis Morrissette's "Flavors of Entanglement." It's from Alanis' more serene breakup album; there is no jagged little pill. It opens with the sounds of the didgeridoo and primitive instruments. The song has a beat. It's world groove meets New Age meets pop meets angst.

"Citizen of the Planet" is about soul-searching. Alanis starts with her roots, and sings of "kissing her mother's mother." She calls Kuan Yin (the Buddhist goddess of mercy) her president. In tune with New Age thought, she professes belief in the Law of Attraction (popularized by Oprah-endorsed "The Secret") and that original sin is only "separation from the source." It's Alanis' non-creedal creed.

"Citizen of the Planet" is a breath of fresh air. It's nice to hear Alanis exploring new sounds, and being "globally naturalized." It's pop taking a plunge into world music.

1 out of 5 stars glad it was free   June 25, 2008

I became agitated listening to it. I'm glad it was for free because I deleted this track from the library. Nothing against Alanis, I have heard some of her other songs before, but this one I just did not like.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty Good!   June 21, 2008

I don't really care for much of Alanis Morissette's music. I own one of her songs. Since it was a free download, I thought I'd give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised and continue to listen to it.

I received an e-mail from Amazon promoting this as a free download through June 16th. Well, it's still June 16th and it's no longer free. What gives???
