Love Me Tender was the theme song for Elvis' first movie in late 1956. The song was an international hit and topped the US singles chart for 4 weeks. It was eventually certified MULTI-PLATINUM with sales in excess of 3 million by the RIAA. It was a tender love song and a departure from his bad boy, rock and roll image at the time.
