I'm shocked by all the bad reviews on here for this humidifier! We live in an extremely dry climate and it runs constantly at night. We've owned it for 2 1/2 years now. We clean it as directed and refill it every 2-3 days. The Nightglo is a nice feature with our infant daughter, and really makes a difference on the length and frequency of colds, allergies, etc. I highly recommend this one!

Run's 3 days before needing refilled, You can fill it in the air. very easy to clean. a little loud when on high. Night light is nice it light's the walk way.

Pros: Inexpensive, relatively quiet, low maintenance, 3.5 gallon tank size
Cons: Relatively quiet, cool mist doesn't help to warm the room

Recommendation: Low maintenance and low cost make this a humidifier that is too good to pass on.

Yes, it puts out the moisture effectively. That will warrant one star. Aside from that it is loud & big. But my biggest complaint is the gunk that builds up in the inside. I cleaned the water tank and base daily, but the motor area has gotten this build up on it after a month of using it that is impossible to get off. Even with bleach. It looks like a white crusty film. GROSS. I even tried bleaching it with no luck. Don't buy it and risk getting ill from the bacteria that builds up in it.

I was going to equate this product to a "steaming pile of crap" but realized that this is worse than that.. There is no steam or in this case cool mist coming out of this one and it is supposed to!

This product sure is care free alright. It stops working so you don't have to worry about care anymore. Not to mention just like other experiences, it floods the hardwood. I had the humidifier upstairs in the bedroom and it flooded the hardwood floor and cracked the ceiling in the room below. I have to pay $400 to get the crack fixed and the entire ceiling repainted.

And all this even after I followed the mfgr. instructions on maintaining this i.e the filter in vinegar+water, clean the tank etc. etc. religiously every month.

Forget about that Night light. That thing stopped working in about 2 weeks. I am now back to my trusted Holmes 1850 which continues to work beautifully and am considering one of those cutesy cow/penguin ultrasonic humidifier for the kid's room.

My recommendation - Save your money. You could do better with a pan of water, a candle and some cheap beer
